With COVI-19 affecting the UK on the market (in addition to the health of our nation), the property scene appears to be somewhat uncertain. Here we have a short summary of specific effects surrounding the property industry and what this means for buyers and sellers.
Mersey Road, Heaton Mersey
Property SummaryA superb Victorian 4 bedroom semi detached home with cellars and loft conversion. Situated on a corner plot in the heart of the conservation area, it is close to the village centre, local schools and Heaton Mersey Common. Many original features. Off road parking. VIEWING ADVISED
THE STORY OF CEPHAS LINNEY Cephas Linney hales from the Victorian period and was a notable character in the Heaton Mersey community. He was a coal merchant, removals specialist and well respected philanthropist. His gravestone resides in the Congregational church near to where he once lived.
A local pictorial history book shows the houses that Cephas built with his brother on Mersey Road. They had adjacent semi's and proudly named them Mersey Villas, completed in 1892 as the date stone declares and were the first homes to be built on that side of Mersey Road.
The area has changed and Mersey Road is now an eclectic mix of charming family homes that are so sought after. Cephas would be delighted to see his home today where the character still prevails with the original sash windows in abundance and the cornices, picture rails and ornamental bosses still in all their glory.
Today the corner plot tells a different story; the old stables have gone, replaced with elegant new homes, but the drive retains the cobbles that once carried Cephas' coal over them. It is also a three storey home these days with an additional en-suite bedroom and adjacent dressing room to add to a beautiful master bedroom with feature fireplace, another double bedroom with yet another fireplace and generous rear fourth bedroom.
Downstairs there is a stunning lounge and you've guessed it another sumptuous cast iron open fireplace, then a superb fitted kitchen with integrated appliances and large island with granite worktops, a dining room, utility rooms and WC. To complete the picture there are three cellar chambers with good head height with heat, light and power.
Altogether a piece of history located in the heart of Conservation area waiting for the right owners to come along.
